Thrilled to bits... the only problem Adrian Purtell had was being changed around, he seemed to have a good partnership with Wiliams until he was moved. He brings some stability to our team when on the field and I could see him being more involved helping the younger players later on, especially if we manage to bring back the open age instead of the under 19's

I think some of you lot need to go back and watch that first half against Wakefield again. Pro-tip, have a look who is 'defending' outside of Lee Gaskell.

We could run through most of the team from Saturday and pick at their defence... It was shocking across the park! We conceded 48 points against Wakefield for Christ sake! Purtell isn't usually one to stand out for bad defence IMO

I'm not livid but not jumping for joy either. Surprised he's got two years though.

Like another poster said, the last thing we need is wholesale changes again as they never ever work.

Two half backs, two aggressive props would be the only additions I would make as I think we're solid enough everywhere else (although not being playing like it of late)

Just watched the match again and take back what I said about Ben Thaler... he missed so much of the game in letting the game flow on. Forward passes were numerous - not penalised., Laying on near their line - not penalised and a blatant knock on by Wakefield left unchecked. We know we were beaten but for goodness sake lets get referees to watch the game and not just the offsides.

Purtell is a reliable and pretty solid centre. He may be over 30 now but whilst he's missed the odd game, he's hardly been injury prone, so I'm quite happy with that as it also gives a bit of stability - we certainly don't want anything like the 'all change' of last season.

Purtell's defence is questionable, but he's an experienced player, and has put Williams in for plenty of tries this season with some decent passes.

I'm fairly happy with our back-line for next season, as it stands. Team chemistry is important and constantly signing new players every season and letting others go like a revolving door isn't something I'm a fan off. Keeping the same players in those positions will make the team more cohesive.

I agree... Leigh have proven what a settled/consistent side can achieve.

In the new scheme of a smaller but better squad Purtell will be at worst a good squad player who could slot in easily if the no1 centres are injured, at best a no1 centre. and therefore ensuring genuine competition for that place. it is going to be interesting to see who goes and who stays, I will put up the 2016 squad topic in the not too distant future.
