Having a roster full of big name players who might shift a few more season tickets doesn't always result in a good team.

Scott isn't a big name. But he's been a consistent performer at this level for a number of years. The York fans seem disappointed he's left. It may not be a big name but it could be a shrewd move like Brad England was.

Scott is a good player, possibly a shade better than what we have. Recruitment is in large part a numbers game for a long tough season and so I'm OK with this signing. It's nearly November so there's no panic but perhaps some urgency. 3/4 good signings could give real shape to the squad. Whereas to lose Scurr and recruitment peter out would signal mid table.

Similarly, on Scurr if he goes to Hull who are looking to shift Shaul, Bowden, Jordan Johnstone and maybe even Fash, it all depends on what's coming in. I'm still reasonably hopeful.

A good example of this is York signing plenty of big name SL players last year
They went backwards last year.
We were outbid by York for Cutherbertson and didn't have a great year for them.
We got better value out of Anthony Walker and Brad England 2 names similar to Scott's history.

Completely agree. Look at the squad we assembled in 2016, full of big names for a Championship team. The likes of Gaskell, Chisholm, Welham and Ferguson were part of that team. We ended up finishing 5th that year and were out-performed by Batley and Featherstone.

I'd prefer that we bring in players who are proven at this level over a superstar signing that may place us in a difficult position financially.

We all remember just how well our class of show ponies went. I was more frustrated by the team then given the big names yet lack of effort.

Luaki was a big name, his minutes were tiny.

Give me a team of lesser names who give 100% on the field any day

I’d be very happy with someone like Bowden as one of our starting props!
