Lots of players are in discussions. I don’t expect all to be signed. Walshaw seems to be rated as decent by Wakey fans. Apparently he’s not had many chances there but has impressed when he gets a run out. He’s a big lad but does he run his weight?

Ainscough is a popular player with some fans. He’d obviously be cheap but he’s certainly no better than anyone we’ve got. I’d be pretty unmoved if he came back.

Wow the Wakey fans won't like that if it's true, very highly rated on their forum. Very large emphasis on the 'if' though, as I can't see this one happening at all.

Why not? I read that news report about Mathers leaving Wakefield and he said something along the lines of he wanted to stay, the coach wanted him to stay but the board said there's no money to keep him. If Wakey are having to penny-pinch why wouldn't a player or two be off. He also looks to fit the model that Lowes has set out so far in the majority of his signings ie young, tough and looking to prove themselves

And I really do like this model... Just add two or three leaders/hard men to look after them on the pitch and we will be getting there .

Things is Bullseye, our current lot will probably all be earning more than Ainscough. The quality players we do have (O'brien, Gaskell, Kear etc) we will probably have to offer even more money as they are dropping down a division with us. Ferres wants a squad of 30, which is the right tactic with next season being so long.

Ainscough is the exact player we should be signing. Fast, cheap, enthusiastic and will score tries for fun.

We're not going to have a 30 man squad with the quality of Gaskell, Ferguson etc

Releasing a 30 year old Mathers who is probably on a fair wedge is one thing, losing a 22 year old home grown academy prospect - who has shown promise in the games he has played this season - is another thing entirely. Especially if he leaves SL to drop down to the Championship.

Walshaw would be a great signing. Think he's a centre/wide running second rower. I was impressed when he played us. Very difficult to put down.

I agree with Northus, I would be surprised if Walshaw left Wakey. However with Wakey signing Ashurst, and Kirmond, Ryan, lauatiti ahead of him, he may have decided now is the time he just needs to be playing right regularly. But would still be surprised if we signed him.

I can see all that and wouldn't be disappointed if Ainscough came back. I'm not sure he's better than George though. I reckon Kear will be on his way.

there does seem to be a focus on the pack, Walshaw has a good all round game, makes good metres and tackles well and is young, so many positives, just the issue of the attraction of playing regularly albeit Championship versus being regarded as a reserve but in SL. 10/10 as a rumour even if I cannot find it on the bulls fans facebook, but then I cannot find anything on facebook!

Very good signing for you off true, very disappointed if he goes but not surprised.
