I have also been told we have appointed an assistant coach.

Absolutely over the moon with John sharpe, this guy will make us good, I don’t know him personally but he comes from a good pedigree, after all he has been in this game in England over 30 yrs, Toovey had no idea, my dog could have got better results than that guy, he was totally out of his depth, and never ever looked happy or comfortable here, my only regret with John sharpe was not seeing him pull on a bradford shirt, because he could play a bit too

Serious thinking to do about ST now. How can someone with such a shoddy reputation attract player worth anything to the club? Would rather have McBanana back FFS.

Seems opinion is split.

I agree we need a coach that can get us out of C1. Is Sharp the man? Only time will tell. I DO care what baggage he brings because the last thing we need is a toxic culture in the dressing room. I do wonder what research the owner has done to come to the conclusion that Sharp is the man for the job. He did well at Fev. In fact he outcoached Rohan Smith that fateful day in 2016. Then he was "let go". The reasons given for his departure don't ring true to me. The goings on at the RFL sound very dodgy indeed. I only hope nothing like that happens with us.

I think those bagging Toovey should take time to consider what handicap he was working under. He came over with no idea what he was getting into. No idea who the players were. Those players were ones that no other club was interested in signing (or they'd have gone). There was no pre-season, no nothing. Despite that we were looking good to stay up until the rug was pulled out over Easter and the loan players went back. When we started signing players it was too late. People who are angry about last season should look at the owner and the RFL before having a go at Toovey.

If you're just going by his coaching record then I'm not sure how anyone can have any complaints. Jon has been successful at pretty much every club he's coached at.
Fev were consistent in the championship for the three years Jon was there, and tbh they were and still are never going to go any better than making the top 4. Replacing Sharp for Duffy was never going to make a difference in terms of how their season ended.

He's only coached at two clubs though Nothus and at Hudders he didn't exactly break any pots - they were glad to be shut of him in the end. He did well at Fev, I agree with you there. I too agree they're not going to improve on what he achieved with Duffy or anyone else. It makes you wonder why they got rid of him doesn't it?

If Sharp can avoid putting noses out of joint behind the scenes and make us hard to beat and get us promoted then I'll be happy.

It's clearly horses for courses and our course has to be promotion. If he does put some noses out of joint then so be it. Personally I got sick of hearing players say what a great place it was to play whilst at the same time we slid further and further down the leagues. Maybe we need players raising their game to get noticed by bigger clubs in the hope of a transfer rather than players that are comfortable where they are.

The baggae debate is interesting. Whatever baggage he did or didn't have at Fev, he got that Fev team playing out of their skins on that day against us. Whereas our lot didn't turn up under Rohan (who we all adored)

Jimmy was adored when appointed, yet didn't get the results when it mattered. Same with Rohan. So if Sharp can get results then who cares.

That said he's clearly not popular with the fanbase overall. Doesn't seem very charismatic and if he doesn't hit the ground running (i.e an opening day defeat to York) then the fans won't have any patience and will quickly turn on him. L

It may seem unfair to prejudge and the results on the field are what counts.

But a large part of his job is man management, team building and motivating - none of which he managed to do while holding the post of Referees Controller.
In fact he managed the exact opposite.

He was in charge of Featherstone when the beat us easily - that may have been his skills or Bulls were just so poor it made them look good - who knows?

As for ruffling feathers - can't see it.

He apparently "gets on well with Duffy", who seems to have more clout now then ever (real bad news). Also see RHP is back in the fold too...

So two of the team who oversaw the Ferres farce and did/said nothing remain in position.(more real bad news)

My money is staying in my pocket until I am proved wrong - and I will be happy to be proved wrong!
