I was in line for the role.
I didn't mention it, as I didn't want to get your hopes up too much, but it obviously didn't work out in the end and it was kicked sideways to young Smith.
Total bullsh
.it apart, I find myself inexplicably upbeat about it all. Green has (yet again) played a blinder for the club, and when I look at the experience our new coach has very clearly built up over many years, plus he couldn't have a better pedigree, then I'm frankly amazed that we managed to get him. And for 3 years!
Bravo, Mr. Green!
As a former Head Coach of Tonga, all I want him to do now is stop off in Tonga on the way here, and pick up any young scrum half of his choice (he must know a few) and smuggle him on the plane.
Whether he does that or not, I'd bet a lot of money that he won't stand for the madcap "no need for a 7" theory for five minutes. Ferres, or whoever dreamed that up, should have their mouth duct-taped automatically any time they in future are thinking of venturing a rugby based opinion.
