I've known mick a lot of years and although what he says gets people's backs up (admittedly brings it on himself at times sorry mick) he genuinely loves the bulls. He started his commentating career bringing the bulls to partially deaf hospital patients all at cost to himself. Like I say he is red amber and black through and through. But like I say again can understand people's frustrations too
I have said this numerous times. He needs to stick to commentary. He is excellent at it, and I will never hear a bad word said about his BCB commentary skills, they are superb.
The problem with him is this "In The Know" stuff that makes him look a total tit. Constantly tweeting rumours and total b0llocks without any real foundation. At normal times, it's kind of harmless. He posts a bull$hit rumour and it turns out to be nothing. The Mathers thing in fairness, was fairly harmless really, it was just people expecting a good player and getting a crap one. But when situations like this are ongoing where people are genuinely fearful that the club they love is about to go under, his $hite is damaging and upsets people. But because he loves the attention so much, and he gets it because there are loads of people that believe it, he carries on.
He REALLY needs to stick to commentary. That way he would be loved. While he continues with this stuff he does on Twitter, he'll always be ridiculed, and without wishing any personal ill will on the lad, who I am sure is a great guy, it's kind of deserved.
I have no doubt his heart is in the right place. But whether it's down to naivety or ego, if he wants to be taken seriously, he needs to reel himself in.
