I would have thought any Billionaire could use that wealth to get an amateur club such as Bradford PA to the verge of league status. It's happened a few times.

So I question why Bradford PA aren't a bigger fish if the man who owns them is so utterly minted. And that then leads me to question why he'd put any decent money in the Bulls when he isn't even inclined to do so at his first love.

He's put 100,000s of pounds into BPA already such as the academy and facilities. I think the stadium could be key. He can redevelop Odsal, he can't redevelop Horsfall (AFAIK)

I agree with the first part, but on reflection ,if his hands are tied with developing Horsfall it is understandable if Odsal became his opportunity. He only took on BPA to give something back to the community of Bradford and establish a legacy...so the Bulls could be a perfect fit..but then pure guesswork AGAIN!

The article in the t&a today mentions that he wants BPA to be a self sufficient community club. As others have said, he has already invested in the academy and other backroom areas, with mention of plans to develop the ground also.
Perhaps, rather than someone like Koukash who threw money at Salford trying to win silverware immediately (while their academy rotted), maybe Roberts was a bit more modest with his approach to BPA and knew that in reality they will always be minnows in a city with an already well established football club.
So instead of glory, he gave the club stability. And that is the key word for me, stability.

Out of all of this, whatever happens, that's all I want.

...and therein lies my only real worry about his bid - is it JUST to get a new ground for Avenue?

At the end of the day you can promise the world to the Administrators and the RFL but when it's his, it's his..

The noises about the academy also make that bid appealing to me. He has a track record of investing in the academy structure of his club. We have a superb academy which most fans said was a high priority in preserving when the new owners took over. It sounds to me like Roberts is the sort of person that will preserve that, maybe even improve it.

In contrast, had Mrs. Koukash put a bid in and won, I would be always expecting that academy to be scrapped at any moment.

 Why don't Madejski and Roberts team up? Then we would be proper loaded. :thumb:

I didn't see anyone post this, so thought I'd put it up just in case it was missed. Koukash confirmed at the weekend that they aren't one of the bidders...

But if he is steeped in his BPA knowledge then he will know that they are the true team for Bradford. Where the Bradford founding fathers went wrong was in selling the Park Avenue ground instead of Odsal. (For those that don't know it was a bit like Headingley with the soccer ground on one side and the county cricket ground on the other.) BPA had to ground share with City and from there on never looked forward
