Will be very disappointed if it is Johnny Campbell for a couple of reasons. Firstly it shows we are knowing we wont make the cut for SL this year, he is a proven performer at this level and seems we could be gearing up for a second year in this league rather than completely push for SL. Secondly every blind man and his dog can see we are crying out for a half back so why the obsession with signing more outside backs! Its not under 8's where you can just try run round your opponents! That said its not a slate on the player, I actually think he is a very good player at this level and in a full time environment with (and no disrespect to anyone at Batley here) better players around him im sure he would be a hit

If so I thought he looked lively against us. But, as others have said, doesn't exactly scream 'preparing a squad for Super League'

I didn't think that the middle 8 system would work in terms of there being actual promotion and relegation and I'm less convinced of it happening every week. As it stands, the only change to the leagues for next year might be Leigh in SL and Wakefield in the Championship. But even that still has a maybe hanging over it. The only real way this system could work is if Championship clubs were allowed the same salary cap as SL clubs. Now that'll be harder with the part time environment, but hows about 3 years of proving they can sustain that level of salary before being allowed to actually spend that amount?

It isn't, and never has been, a deal breaker for me or my support though and I've enjoyed this season in the championship. Eventually, the clubs will come to see the system for the sham it is and either licensing or Straight P&R will come back. I think it's the turn of P&R next..

Wakey won't be spending any more now on their players than they were before. People seem to only look at signings and conveniently forget the players they released prior to signing anyone. Their wage bill now will either be less than the start of the season, or a similar level.
They have also just received a fee for Daniel Smith and brought Mullally in on loan, so again their finances are being well maintained.
They are run by an accountant, so what some people may construe as panic buying as we move into the playoffs is really just replacing those recently departed, probably with better players in my opinion.

They just need Brian Smith to work his magic and get them playing as a unit and, with a helpful hand from the salary cap disparity, they won't be going anywhere at the end of the season.
