.., until he starts winning such games regularly, a fluke is very much what this will be viewed as BY ME.
Edited for accuracy. Whatever it was, it was no fluke and it is very ungracious of you to pick that word. As a win, it was 100% merited, they worked their backsides off and played well to do it. I suspect this annoys you, and this is why in a rush to disparage it, you picked a completely inappropriate noun.

Yes, it was. Not a "fluke"!

but the guy is/was under pressure for a reason and he and the team have to build on this.
No poop, Sherlock! Any more banal truisms?

Yes, you want to talk with the benefit of hindsight, and your ongoing hope that McNamara and the Bulls will fail is revealed by your spiteful dig at Bulls fans who are happy at the magnificent win.

Yes it was a dig, a dig at someone who has posted a fair amount of unfair and insulting crap over the last few months especially. The team and coaching has deserved criticism but some on here have gone way beyond what I would deem fair or warranted. Just my thoughts.

Getting carried away? Certainly not.. this counts for very little if we revert back to the type of performances we have seen before last night. McNamara still has to prove he is the right man for many fans on the terraces. But I will certainly enjoy this victory, it felt very sweet after the time and money spent seeing some poor displays by the side this year.
Sorry Adey it's my fault I didn't make my point clearly enough. The point I tried to make was that after the games that were disapointing result wise we were told not to rush to make judgements. But after a win that practice seems not to apply anymore.
In which case, I'll agree with that. One swallow and all that, and we've a hell of way to go yet. Although tbf I've not seen anyone really (other than Mick, obviously... ) suggesting the practice has changed?
My post was anyway not aimed at you, since you are not one of the very sad insecure people who gives the impression of delighting in catching (or inventing) people doing things wrong.
Churchill said (about El Alamein) that it was not the end, nor indeed was it the beginning of the end; but it was, perhaps, the end of the beginning. It would be good to think that we will look back on last night as being a similar tipping point. I'm not counting any chickens, but I'm hoping!

I'm confident about the next few games, and hopefully the good win against champions will send us on a roll. But again, I better not count any chickens yet.
ME shows himself up for what he is with his spiteful, ungracious and sanctimonious fifth-column crap. Again.
For the avoidance of doubt, on another thread I said of him "You must be so gutted tonight, you defeatist negative sanctimonious excuse of a Quisling." That was posted in the heat of the moment, in the full flush of our unexpected victory.
However, now I have had time to reflect on it...I would not change one word I said.

My own view is that not much has changed, it was thankfully a match where we didn't collapse, but kept going throughout, perhaps at the expense of some of the more expansive play we have shown of late.
It did show we are more than capable of mixing it with the bestter teams, but it did not change the fact that we are in a rebuilding phase, and rebuilding takes time.
The people who will be disappointed are those who think this win means we're going to be challenging for the SL trophy. We're not, not this season, not next, what we need to do is keep building the foundations and keep the pot boiling in the meantime.

You mean many fans, the players and Macca himself? He and Hood have clearly stated they want to challenge for the SL title. Several players -including Menzies with his heaps of experience- have shown belief that we can make it to GF so why not put faith in them. We won't ever win it again with an attitude like that.

I didn't say I don't want us to challenge, of course I do, and I would be amazed if the players and coach said any different.

If our squad can perform to the best of it's ability consistently then we will challenge for the title, I know you obviously want us to challenge but get a bit more behind them. We can through effort, determination, quality and a bit of luck win the title this year, and there's definitely enough team spirit to manage this in the Odsal camp.
