Some clubs have always had a minority of idiots - it goes back to when I was a kid in the 80s and is nothing new. If you read the history books it goes right back to when the game began. It seems to me that they're just more visible when we have smaller crowds. We seem to lose the casual supporters but the real headcases stay around.

Looking at our stewards I'm not that convinced they'd be much use if it really kicked off but with austerity you're never going to get a police presence in a rugby ground unless it was a really big game.

I recall one vexed up bloke yesterday effing and blinding while peeing into a sink in the gents yesterday before kick off when there were ample toilets available he could've used – are toilets not yet a thing in Fev?

Worst bit was when he washed his face in it afterwards.

I'm surprised he didn't drink it. It's supposedly quite a tonic. When i lived in Bingley there was a very educated bloke who swore by it.

Never trust a man who, when left alone in a room with a tea cosy, doesn't try it on.

So there is some posh bloke in Bingley who drinks a certain Featherstone fans urine?

Its a small, strange world.

Featherstone Rovers - Co-Operative Championship League Leaders and Champions 2011

Re: Round 1: Featherstone (H) : Mon Feb 04, 2019 2:26 pm
Good game yesterday, thought we went really well considering half our team and the coach were down under 3 weeks ago.

Should really have a been a Rovers win, absolute howler from the officials on the kick and chase try. Watching the video it's as clear a knock on as you'll ever see and the ref was a maximum of 3 feet away, staring straight at it. But I'm sure we'll get one in our favour at some point to even things out.

Didn't see what kicked the trouble off, but there was an atmosphere from both sets of fans. I suspect that the truth of it lies somewhere between the accounts of both sets of fans.

I agree that it's creeping in a little too much, I can only speak for the Rovers fans I see. But some of them need to either calm down the boozing, or learn how to take their ale better. One of the coaches came from one of the local boozers, which was open for drinking way before the bus left, which I find ridiculous.

Good luck for the rest of the season, except when you come to Fev.

I think Hitchcox was a bit patchy really. One of the breaks came when Lilley’s pass went to nobody and the defence was wrong footed. That said he did really well to make the break but if he’d shown a bit more composure we would have scored if he’d drawn the fullback and put Minchella in on his right. Instead he threw a long ball to Flanagan on his left who was covered.

He made a right mess of clearing the kick that led to Briscoe’s try too. It just needed hacking away.

Despite the blooper he didn’t hide and will be a real asset on a firmer pitch.

I was surprised how we stayed in it given we only had three bona fide props on the field. At times we struggled to get on the front foot in the first half. Anyone else a bit puzzled by our use of subs? Flanagan didn’t come on until the second half and I’m not sure Oakes would’ve got on at all had it not been for Webster’s concussion.

Agree with everything here. To be honest I thought he was going to go in and out and beat the FB for pace! Alas he didn’t. Just impressed by his attacking play especially in those conditions. Could be in for a shout with top try scorer come season’s end!
