Success consists of getting up just one more time than you've fallen down.

Think I am correct in saying that Saints haven't conceded more than 22 points in a game so far this season, somehow I can't see Bradford beating that.

Are Saints going to struggle to get less than 22 at home to Bradford ? I really doubt it, Saints by 30 for me.

You really are a comedian

The betting odds have now started to come out, and I have laid some money down on Betfair though similar odds are availablewith totesport, who have the Bulls at 12/1 to win.

As some will know, I go to every game thinking we are going to win, but however optimistic or pessimistic you may be, you can't argue that there will only be 17 players from each team coming out of the tunnel. And in my experience, odds of 12/1 in a 2 horse race are rather generous for a team that just beat Leeds.

As is Stan James' offer of Even money with 24 points start.

Is it any good for a team that just lost to Wakefield and were humiliated at home by lowly Warrington?

Yes. Oh, yes. Yes, it is.

It is just that fact that someone could read this, and not know anything about rugby league.and see your point and think, Flippin' 'eck, This side just beat Leeds, they must be pretty ok, when actually the opposite is a lot closer to the truth.

No, they could read your poisonous, anti-Bulls crap and (due to endless repetition adfucckinginfinitum they might misguidedly believe you had some sort of point.
mystic eddie wrote:
I know the point that he is making, and, if it was on the back of a good win v Leeds and a run of decent form it would be very good odds indeed. However, it is not.

I think it fscking was, actually :D

12/1 would be good odds if the horses were of similar stature. However, not so much if the two horses included one impressive thoroughbred and one Blackpool donkey.

"Blackpool donkeys", eh?

How sick to the pit of your stomach you must be!

You misunderstand. The bookies are the ones that make these odds, and they are the ones that take the form into account.

Whereas my point is, form was (by definition) irrelevant in those cases where a big outsider causes a major upset, as they regularly do!

The point is, self-evidently, the past or even recent form isn't going to help you much to predict an upset. But such upsets do regularly happen!

I was using "two horse race" as a cliche and not specifically referring to horses. But there are many similarites, though. SL teams, like horses, do not tend to be entered to compete in events which it is impossible for them to win.

And I'd say it is much easier to get an upset in a team game, such as RL, than in a one-on-one. Not that the latter don't happen, mind you. Anyone remember any of these?

Buster Douglas betaing Mike Tyson (42/1)
North Korea v Italy 1966
Wrexham v Arsenal - F.A. Cup 1992
Greece in Euro 2004 (any match!)
U.S. v England 1950 World Cup
Faroe Isles v Austria 1990
NYGiants beating the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII
Bangladesh v Australia - cricket ODI 18th June 2005 (Bangladesh were 20/1!)
St. Gallen v. Chelsea in 2000 (Chelsea were 1/100)
Papua New Guinea 20-18 Great Britain 1990 (GB 28 point favourites)
Sheffield 17 v Wigan 8 1998 CC Final
Saints v Bradford 2009 ??????????????????????

Mate.. I'm not going to attempt to argue.

Beat Saints at Knowsley Road, seriously the best league game i've seen given the circumstances and such.

COME ON YOU BULLS!

And you have a good night FA for having faith.

I told you you were due.

Thanks for inducing that new Saints 5th tackle option. They deserved to get beat for that moment all on it's own.

Pass it Barnstoneworth, get it away Barnstoneworth, oh Barnstoneworth.
