yes, know what you mean, but in Batemans case most comments seem to be about giving him more time on the pitch. He will be more interested in jelling with the group of talented youngsters we seem to have, O'Brien Tom and some of the recent U20's signings than worrying about bloggers brainless comments. And thats going to be another measure of improvement, how the Academy and U20's fare this season

We should do better than last year as the academy side seems to have had more players recruited.

We can help the club to continue to punch above its weight with its young players by signing up to Bullbuilder http://www.bullbuilder.co.uk/

Yes its more a question of how much better, as theres more players recruited but also from the sound of what happened last year, much earlier too, so they should have a bit more time together before competitive games start. The club do seem to have put a lot of effort into getting good young players, and I am really keen to see us bring as many of the playmaker positions through, ie 6, 7, 9 and 13, and we seem to have the potential for at least three of those.

I still don't know what caused the shambles of last year's academy recruitment but hopefully the sides will have a better time this year and not be on the end of so many thrashings.

Last year Burgess pushed through to the 1st team, can Bateman do that in 2012? Given our possible lightness up front what about McAvoy? Could he make a few appearances?

Absolutely. Supporters who have joined Bullbuilder/attended events or making a monthly contribution are making a real difference to our young players. Flood lights at Tong to allow them to train on a full length pitch in the winter months. A set of skins for each of them and a trip to RAF camp are some of the recents things provided by BullBuilder members! If anyone reading this still hasn't got round to joining... Yes, though I with others have been critical about only forwards coming through, right now it would be good if McAvoy started to push the seniors. maybe that was part of the calculation in letting Crossley go to Dewsbury, we shall see.

Well in all fairness Crossley didn't have many chances but in the times he played he never made over 6m per drive. So letting him go was the right thing to do. However if Bateman is pushing for occasional appearences. Let's say 10 apps this year then Langley may be used as a prop with either Donaldson or Addy going to 13 until Bateman plays.

What a well thought out and reasoned post from Tigertot! The kid is eighteen and developing really well, and one most Super League clubs would pay a fortune for.
