I remember reading a while back that they were basing the kit on an all blacks kit. I can see the similarities!

Kits a bit boring but does the job, looks weird with only one sponsor it, so used to the usual splattering of companies. Ha!

sleak, away kit not been revealed yet?

as for the sponsorship, major canadian air company, probably no need to sniff around for other shirt sponsors, if aired on uk tv, canandian/usa tv they may have asked for sole sponsor and paid more??

I would imagine there would be no money changing hands for this deal? What's the cost of sending 25 people from Manchester to Toronto and back 20 times per year?

I suppose North American sports team 'jerseys' are fairly free from sponsors compared to UK RL. I suppose we have to bare in mind when judging Toronto on anything they do, that they have a completely different market and culture that they're aiming at. We're used to the crap sponsors everywhere, but North American fans aren't.

Possibly, no figures have been announced yet.

Some more info via twitter on the Air Transat deal:

"We are pleased to announce a 3 yr. deal w @airtransat! Flights for opposing teams & The Wolfpack, both to and from the UK will be covered."

"Also, travel packages for fans, including match day tickets, will be announced shortly as part of the 3 year agreement with @airtransat"

Dont get me wrong, its a very good thing that it isn't splattered with sponsors, just saying it is different is all. :D

I saw the NBA voted to allow small sponsors on jerseys and a lot of fans were really annoyed about it, just what you're saying.

You say boring, I would say classy and their sponsor will be chuffed that their name is clear and folk are not distracted by other logos and adverts.
There was a time when the only "print" on the shirt was the club emblem and whilst all clubs need income, the amount of advertising on shirts, these days, doesn't improve their appearance.

I think the Basketball and Football (soccer) sides play in Red. I suppose they're trying to be distinctive and stand out in the city.

The club are certainly making the right noises, and are a positive for the game in what has been a pretty negative off-season.

Fairly decent stadium in central Toronto.
Good website.
Great main sponsor.
Kit & logo looking good.
Very active social media presence.
A squad assembled that could probably compete at the top of the Championship.
Their own TV deal sorted.
8 North Americans in their first squad, 4 which came through "The Last Tackle" TV programme they set up.
Their Canadian media are taking notice:
http://thechronicleherald.ca/sports/143 ... o-wolfpack
http://theprovince.com/sports/rugby/vic ... ague-dream

All before a ball has been kicked. Some of our own clubs should be taking note.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the side get on, what sort of home crowds they get, and how players cope with the travel (both for TW and the away sides).

Not a done deal that they'll be successful by any means, plenty of hard work still to do.
