2nd half scoring : Fri Apr 01, 2016 10:45 pm  

There seems to be a pattern developing were we seem to be struggling to score in 2nd half. None tonight, none against Widnes, couple against Wigan, none against Leeds, was it one against Wakefield?

It's because we expend all our energy trying to get back into the game after we start poor. Plus we've had a back in the bench in the last few games which can't really help the forwards

Everytime I see a Saints try, it's like watching an Aussie rules game with the ball kicked in the air followed by
a melee of players jumping up trying to catch it.

That's not fair that mate, we score some barge over tries from 5 yards out too.

Lol. This season is throwing up so many suprises. It's the worst Saints side I can remember and no-where near your usual
high standards. But Leeds, I just can't believe the results they've thrown up week after week. The 2 games they've just lost were supposed
to be the easy games, the up and coming run of fixtures look horrendous if you're a Leeds fan.

Can't argue much with that because we're playing some boring rugby league but any team in SL that loses its 1st choice fullback, centre and both wingers will find it more difficult to score points. That said, we have far more issues than a few injuries.

We were a bit busted going in at the interval so it wasn't surprising we were going to be ineffective in the 2nd half, we lost big Joe early doors then Peyroux got injured and got strapped up but couldn't run. Similarly Walsh got injured couldn't run and kick and we were surprised he came out in the second half, Thompson got a head knock and played on, Dawson got a calf strain and played on. We just run out of energy in the 2nd half whilst Hull not having a big injury problem rested around 5 players on Easter Monday and it showed in the last quarter with field position.
So personal wise, missing and unfit was:-
Lomax
Makinson
Percival
Peyroux (played on with leg injury)
Swift
Dawson (played on with calf injury
Walsh (played on with leg injury)
Tasi
Thompson (played on with head injury)
Greenwood (played and taken off with head injury)
Vea

We are pretty much busted in the back line for effective strike players, 4 players out long term and 3 players injured but played on in the game, so until we get bodies back to fitness I think we need to give them a bit more slack at the moment.

Said before it is the only tactic by the one trick pony! and it gets boring to watch, watched the tries this morning from last night's Aviva Premiership and Guinness Pro 12 and there were some top tries.

Hull didn't rest 5 players on Easter Monday. We had 8 first teamers out with injury. If you would like me to check, I'll ask the Hull physio how many of our team played on with injuries last night....it's part of the game and the choice of the player/ coaching staff as to whether they are fit enough to stay on.
