I know we're only a couple of games in, but Hull are looking pretty impressive and playing some exciting rugby. Lee Radford was a rookie coach who during the last couple of seasons has led a inconsistent mid-table team at best. Could the patience and belief invested in him by those at Hull finally be paying off?
Do we as fans not need to be a little more patient with Cunningham? I know some people will point to the fact that he inherited a champion team, but those with longer memories may remember a frustrating 1st season under Brown, followed by us somehow dragging ourselves over the line in 2014 with great spirit but certainly not a great playing style to watch.
I'm as frustrated as everyone else at the minute, but are we definitely sure he's never going to succeed as a coach given time?
We definitely should have given him a bit more slack last season, this season its a bit too early to be a bit over critical as not every game is going to be "salford standard". I would rather see where we are 5 or 6 games in, two things worry me at the moment his team selection and match day mental preparation prior to kick off.
The poster above is correct in that we don't have a couple of strong leaders to keep us focussed, KC has mentioned quite a few times last season and the Salford game that he was disappointed in his senior players, this is where you need a strong assertive coach and not sending Wellens bawling on the touchline when the game is lost,, he does seem to struggle in this department and already been quoted "We will respond get things right for next week", we will wait and see.
The one thing I can't get my head around is how Sean Long is used in our coaching, we believe he is our defence coach which is probably his worse game skill, we lack a lot of attacking ideas and options, if Sean Long improved the Salford attack a few seasons back why can't he do it for this club.
I struggled post season to purchase my season ticket for this year because most of last season was boring, so I will probably see where we are after the Easter weekend to see if both players and coach can raise expectations.
