We have got to put everything into getting this man to be the next coach of St Helens. He is the best coach in the league without a doubt imo. If we dont then Warrington will imo.

It ain't going to happen. They are not going to sack KC for at least two seasons even if we are rubbish and finish low down the table next year.

I'm afraid we will have more of the same for a few years yet.

Powell has had time to develop into the coach he is today. Cunningham should be allowed the same luxury.

I wouldn't say he was allowed that luxury. He was sacked by Leeds. and was in the RU wilderness for a few years before earning his stripes at Fev.
The chances of any coach being allowed to 'develop' in the face of poor results are zero. You either win games, or you're out the door.

Ok, I stand corrected. But he should be allowed more time. If we sacked him, I don't doubt that in a few years time he'll be bringing another team to our place who'll be a hard team to beat.

You could say Powell has had an up and down 12 years of coaching with his only success at the moment is at Championship level. KC has been involved in coaching for just over 2 years and head coach for just 9 months, if he gets us in the top 4 play offs then he's done a good job under difficult circumstances.
Could Powell have done much better if he was at the club, I'm not too sure.

Kc took over super league champions and was favourites to win the final this year before the start of the year.

What are the difficult circumstances he's had to deal with?

I don't think we look good at all. We are boring one up rubbish rugby and very poor in defence. I've not enjoyed watching us this at all as im bored by it but I think KC deserves another year. I can't see how anyone deserves to be sacked based on one season. We not playing well but we are there or there abouts (not a chance we will win anytning).

I only worry if he doesn't improve his coaching of the team and these bargain basement recruitment we are doing couid out is back to square one (pre Nathan Brown).

We lost quite a few pivotal players (1, 6, 7, 9 + 13) for a chunk of the season, I think we played 2 games with only one pivotal hence trying to dominate with the forwards and play up the middle. He also had Turner and Mose to contend with, not having the strength in depth to drop some of these players.
Our opening few games were pretty good but I,m not sure if KC can take the compliments for that, because I think we were still playing Pro Brown.

Its like you say we are there abouts, I,m sure KC knows that and I get the impression he wants to play percentage rugby, be his own man for the time being. I,ve mentioned in another thread somewhere there is not really anybody to judge or give him some advisory, he's been forced into the deep end 12 months too early, so this seasons (12 months) is a "freebie" with risk, courtesy of McManus and Rush.

There are a few positives in promoting some players into "senior roles" namely LMS who has been excellent for a large part of the season, he's progressed Walmsley, Greenwood, Jones and Sav. The negatives are no game plans and attacking flair due to no stability in the back line especially the halves.

If we had a full strength side for the majority of the season and finished mid table then it would be a serious concern, as it is we are there abouts, very similar to last season but still made it to a grand final.

Id say powell has had more of a difficult job. He lost a lot of good players at the end of last season and had to bring in 7/8 players. Clark, Huby, Jamie Ellis, hauraki are some names off the top off head so Imo powell has done a terrific job under difficult circumstances

Daryl Powell was not sacked by Leeds at all, fact. He moved into team manager at his own request as he fought himself he was not ready.
