I'm all for it. Id go so far as to move to 6 substitutions.

Why? What good will it do?

Will having fatigued players cut down the severity of the collisions? No. Will it cut down the messing about and lying on? No. All it will mean is players facing MORE big collisions and doing it when fatigued, so their technique and timing will be off. I reckon it will cause more injuries and cause burnout for more players as they will be forced to do bigger minutes.

Teams will continue to get round it, like they've already started to do, with the concussion check rule. There have been several this year where the player going off isn't even slightly injured.

There is little point in a drastic reduction, a drop to 8 would allow the players and teams to adapt.

If the final goal is 6 then reduce it by another two in 3 to 4 years.

Side note, why is a Saints player always in the picture with the interchange reduction news. Are they trying to say something?

Good idea.

We used to have 4, so 8 is still enough to be getting on with and as impact will be effected as speed plus bulk is what effects impact so tired players are not going to be hitting as hard for as long as previously

Why not? People imagine this cutting out the likes of Mose Masoe, but it won't. If anything the 8 subs will be used purely for the props and the hookers and back rowers will be doing 80 minutes, it'll be them that suffer.

Go for 8 changes during a game next season, reduce it to 6 the following season, we need to get back to players who go off only for injuries, also like the idea to cut back on wasting time at scrums on drop outs, it has slowed the game right down, what we do with scrums it beyond me, as they are a complete farce.

Of course it will. They'll simply be less energy for sprinting in and smashing people. There'll also be less energy put into those nasty 3rd man in efforts on the knees that you dislike so much. Players will naturally conserve energy for their longer stints.

It'll mean smaller collisions, as players will have to lose weight to be able to play for longer stints. It MAY cut down on the wrestle (and related injuries), but we'll see

I'm not convinced. Players are so much fitter than they were in the days of 2, 4 or 6 subs. A modern backrower could do 80 minutes every game no problem. The Wigan snipers who attack knees more often than not do now anyway.
