He was outstanding today. That's the Jon Wilkn I remember when he was at the top of his game few years back.

Said hello to Levy in my best mangled French last week outside the club shop. Nice kid. He's chuffed to bits with all the welcomes he's received

Stood next to him I felt very conscious of my vastly inferior athleticism.

He's absolutely massive. Went to shake his hand and at first I thought he was wearing a baseball glove.

I think Rugby League is SERIOUSLY late in catching on to a trick which the Premiership learned nearly a decade ago.

There's unimaginable potential in the French-speaking immigrant community which has moved up from Africa. Guys like Didier Drogba, Papa Bouba Diop, Sissoko etc. etc. are absolutely enormous athletes whose bodies aren't choked up with the garbage we routinely throw down our gullets.

When you think that African footballers hardly received a look in twenty years ago and now they seem to dominate defences and midfields all across the globe.

If I could chip a few grand toward the club I'd have someone stationed in France all year round.

That's because they were originally cheap, but their national teams are not contenders for winning the World Cup.

So what? There are many European teams which aren't contenders - including England. Over the past forty years how many times has the World Cup been won by a team which wasn't Brazil, Italy, Germany and, say, Argentina?

The best African sides are no different to England. The only thing they are lacking is one or two creative geniuses.
