Glad to see the lad's got over his problems and is now beginning to show some form. Could have easily collapsed into his shell and drifted out of the game. Now tearing up the lower league.

Hopefully he'll be back in SL next season.

When you consider the injury problems we have at scrum half and full back, the question is:-

Has Gaskell matured into a better player away from saints and could he be a better option than using Wellens ait full back or Wilkin at scrum half. Could KC change his mindset to our advantage.

Looking good in the championship does not mean he'll be good in SL.
Talented player, but to say he's not the brightest spark would be an understatement

I thought Gaskell was more harshly criticed by Saints fans than most of our homegrown talent.

Considering the amount of rope we gave Wheeler, based on one half game against Wigan some 6 years ago. Gaskell got very short shrift for someone who was thrown in at the deep end.

To me it seemed to be a case of better to never play and just be seen as potential forever, rather than be put out in the field and make mistakes.

Would have been very useful as a 3rd halfback, but it was not to be for him and Saints.
I think he will comeback to SL and be a decent scrum half. I seem to recall Brough went on his travels around the leagues before finding his home at Huddersfield.

A talented player, but not sure his face fit and would struggle to get a game with Walsh and Burns playing. Although at this rate there would always be a berth at one of the halfspots or FB, as it seems we will never have a full fit side.

I agree, always rated him. He didn't see eye to eye with Brown and there was only going to be one winner in that. He probably suffered in some respects in hot having a settled position. With young players it's difficult. If you remember your year at Widnes it was all about Gaskell, Lomax, Foster, Makinson, Clough, Dixon etc. and the following season it started to fall apart for some of them. As I've said many times the lack of A team / U23s rugby is a major problem for a lot of younger players as they are not ready for week in week out 1st team rugby.

Also had a fallout with Royce and Mike rush.

He had a settled position at saints, he was playing 6.

If Gaskell has improved his defensive game, I think he could do a job for us at full back. He was on a fair bit of pressure when we had the Lomax/Gaskell pairing worked for a short period but fell apart when lack of experience built up the pressures.
This means Lomax going in at scrum half with Burns calling all the set plays.
