I'm surprised no one has posted this yet - unless I am blindly missing the post http://www.superleague.co.uk/report/10086 Nothing much to note except errors were pleasingly down (from wire game). To the wheeler "haters" he made the second fewest metres after Jones who made 9 metres but 34 tackles (is this correct?). Other than that Wheelers stats were OK and similar to Turner but quite a way behind HiHo's. Roby was the stand out performer in almost every aspect of play. On a team level, surprisingly there was not a great deal between the two teams. Hudds stand outs were Lunt and Ukuma Ta'ai with 148 metres and 36 tackles.

James Roby - 184m, 65 tackles, 1 try, 1 try assist. Take a bow.

Still the best hooker in the league. It's easy to get drawn in by Clark's attacking flair but his defensive work rate is absolutely nowhere near Roby with only just over half the tackles Roby has made this season. An often overlooked but vitally important role of a hooker.

On the back of a similar number of tackles against Wire?

I'd be interested to watch the game back and see if Jones did only make 2 carries for 9 metres, although I thought he did go very well in defence.

As for the Wheeler "haters", sadly the stats dont show that he was on the teamsheet as a half backand spent more time standing in the centres/on the wing. I have defended Wheeler for a long time now, but sadly Friday's game for me summed him up perfectly: a couple of glimpses of what he can be capable of, overshadowed by a largely anonymous "performance" instead of standing up and taking control of the team (the main job of a half back). For me, Friday should be the last time we see him in a Saints top and give Charnock a chance (who if for nothing else has a very good in play kicking game which we lacked last weekend), he couldnt be any worse than Wheeler I dont think.

As for Roby, 60 tackles vs Wire and 65 last week have now seen him overtake Danny Houghton to finish SL top tackler with 1054 for the season (W453 more than our second top tackler for the year in Soliola). That is phenomenal effort - especially when you take into account his attacking stats - and I would like to bet there isnt a player in SL who works as hard as that guy every week for us. Surely has got to be considered as a contender for MOS

Exceptional again from Roby but how long can he keep this going?
I've not seen anywhere that you've signed a player who maybe his number 2. Do you have an academy lad who would be looking to break into the first team as a 9 sub?
Roby's a great player but burn out can't be many years away at this rate.

I,m not to sure if he will burn out, he has been playing like this from the age of 12, he just need to be wary of the niggling ankle injuries.
We said Graham would also burn out but he,s still going strong. Some players start from a high level base these are normally your world class players of which Roby is one of them.

Anybody know what the individual tackle count in a match is.

It's a danger that he could burn out.

We run him far to hard and too long IMHO. But there are other areas that we need first.

Once we tie down a 2nd half, then we can work around the edges where things need tidying up.

La Frank 32 tackles. That's just not possible.
Unless Putting your hand on another tackler as the third man counts as a tackle.
His stats continue to be baffling.

Apparently Charnock looks like he's being moved to play hooker.
Also, if (as rumoured) we sign Burns and keep hohaia, then Lance will offer some cover for rotation at 9.
