I said last week, I just don't know what we are going to get at times this year, did not foresee us getting hammered last week, did not foresee, Cas knocking Wigan out the cup, did not foresee us passing Cas of with ease. Did not see Wigan losing to Wakey.
Any idea's why it was all turned around in 7 days??
Most of it was entirely predictable.
We got hammered last week as, in line with most of this season, the motivation just wasn't there. 17 players going through the motions with no real commitment.
Cas knocking Wigan out of the Cup was a small club, who have a quality first 17, targeting a specific game and throwing everything at it, showing the commitment and will to die for each other that we lack. Cas, being a small squad with little depth will then naturally falter for a while, capitulating in the league fixture against Wigan.
I mentioned earlier in the week that I didn't see today as a big game or a big challenge. Cas don't have it in them to play well consistently. Away games particularly against the better sides are quite likely to see them get a shoeing. We simply HAD to respond after last week, much like the games after the last big disappointment, there had to be a noticable up turn in commitment and given the quality of some of the players and with us being at home, we were always going to win today.
Wigan losing to Wakefield is perhaps the biggest surprise of the lot, but given Wigan's injuries (No SOL, Blake Green or McIllorum today, which is probably half their senior players) it isn't a massive surprise. We should have lost at Wakefield as well, they are a decent side at home and it was only a wonder 15 minutes amongst 65 minutes of being battered that got us through against them.
