Just how much has the World Cup done for RL in this country?

At the moment the 2nd and 3rd most trending items on twitter are 'Luke Walsh' and '#SLWarStH'

7th is 'Saints'

8th is 'Warrington'

9th is 'Wire'

Two hours after the match has finished and five of the top ten trending topics on Twitter are about tonights match: "Luke Walsh", #SLWarStH, "Warrington", "Saints" and "Wire."

To be honest, I think a Thursday night sky match can only be good for the sport.

For the casual viewer, you're probably right. While I will always make time for a Saints game (and often for a neutral game) on a Friday night, a lot of people will have other things going on.

Twitter is a good guide to a certain populous, I think in terms of live TV, it has a good link up. But not sure how much Live sport was on TV last night, so the Thursday night may leave the market wide open for SL.

Whilst not perfect for the fan, for the casual (stereotypical fella who likes to watch sport) Thursday night is pretty lean pickings. The TV viewer figures will give us a better idea though.

I am of course generalising, but you have to generalise to find any trends.

Great news. When i was on Twitter during the 2013 GF, twitter was also busy with lots of RL top trends and i think there was a footy match on at the same time possibly international too.

The figures for last Friday's opening match was 350,000 which, i am told, is significantly up on previous years
