Castleford : Sat Jun 29, 2013 11:54 am
Next week we go to a club on the up. Historically quite a happy hunting ground for Saints and I feel we will still be supporting in numbers, partially due to the good day out mentality which keeps us sane. What will the coaching duo do. Will they have the nerve to make wholesale changes, or stick to what is not working. Granted we have a strange squad but as a minimum I would expect to see Thompson, Percival and Swift actually in the starting thirteen. I don't know if it is fair to say who I would drop but lets say we have two players on loan and one forward who is leaving which would be an easy option for the dynamic duo. Besides these its difficult as we have thrown new contracts at some garbage and a legend who doesn't know when to exit stage left, so we have made our own bed with some of these clowns one of whom would be better singing any old iron with Tommy Steele at Hackney Empire. Lets just hope the sun shines at Cas we all have a good day and things can only get better. I hope the real Mr Howarth has his best coaches ready for the occasion, come to think of it he is a good organiser play him scrum half :D :D

Playing like last night we'll get mullered. Our wonderful coaches will probably not see it but

Howarth should be dropped off at Salford on the way
Wellens should be sat with Brown and Cunningham
Laffranchi should spend the day in the airport lounge waiting for his flight back to Aus

There are many many more changes required but we dont have the personnel to do it sadly :(

I think we will lose at cas and will be a heavy loss.

Powell has brought a real work ethic to cas and they look like a team full of spirit that will work for each other.

Sadly we have none of the above.

He was a dud as a player but I wouldn't have minded him coaching us instead of Disco Brown the tinkerman.

Sacking Millward has been the best thing to happen to Cas in a long time, they'll be a playoff team next season, if not this year under Powell.

Millward is a quality coach I just think it is difficult to go to some of these smaller Yorkshire clubs and embrace yourself in the culture. Cas and Wakey are built for the Kear Powell and Agar type of coach. I also think these clubs have got away with murder. Look at Salford and Leigh building stadiums to stay within a governance framework whilst two clubs named above have hardly installed a new toilet facility at the grounds but thanks to Big Nige and Rimmer the Yorkie mafia carries on.

I predict a rogering of significant proportions next week.

Cas are playing with effort and their flair players are "doing it" at the minute.

It's all too comfortable at saints with Wellens Ade LMS Flannagan and LeFrank all set plus Wheeler Hohaia
already on good contracts , the big wholesale clearout isn't happening.

It's all a bit BocBoc ,Twitter and living the lifestyle despite the poor results ,lowly league position and lack
of entertaining rugby.

Cas by plenty.

Cas were by far the better team last night at Wigan and deserved their win.
However, they were still very poor. Powell has got their defence organised and it looked solid against a very slow, error strewn and predictable Wigan team.
If NB gets his attack organised and uses your pace men, especially Lomax, Cas will not have an answer. Their pack is ordinary, halves slow, Chase is their only threat and backs nothing to shout about.
Get it sorted and you'll will win there.
If you're disorganised then you'll be in trouble as they'll pick you off.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

Re: Castleford : Sat Jun 29, 2013 8:45 pm
Cas played very well at Wigan last night and thoroughly deserved their win. It does sound though as Wigan played like Saints last night, poor completion, poor kicking and dropped ball in the first half.

I don't know who said Powell was a "dud" as player but he obviously knows nothing about a rugby player. Powell was not a great player but he was a very good, clever player who lacked pace. He was a Sinfield of his day.

He was an integral part of a GB team that was closer to Australia than we are now.
