How much will this season cost us? : Sun Apr 14, 2013 2:22 pm
I've just been looking at how we've been doing in comparison with the same fixtures last season. The stats speak for themselves in terms of our results. 4 outcomes worse than last season, 6 the same and only 2 better. In terms of points scored we are down 9 per game and are averaging just 22 per game, which is worrying when you consider that we've played most of the poor sides at home already. That stat makes sense though given the lack of half backs. Defensively we are more or less the same, conceding 1 point per game more than last season and averaging 19 points per game. Average result for these fixtures last season was a 13 point win, this season it's a 3 point win.Perhaps of more concern to the club (As they don't appear to care about the team winning) is the attendances. Every game has seen a drop, which is perhaps understandable given last season was the first year at the new ground. But the drop is quite severe, the honeymoon of the new stadium and it's affect on our crowds and therefore finances is clearly over. Last season for the fixtures we've had so far, we averaged 13,780 and this season it's 10,586. I did consider the snow game, but there were a run of horrendously rainy games last season that would have affected the crowds as well. That is an average drop of 3,194 per game. That figure translated over the season equates to £870,000 at £21 per ticket. That children, is the price of failure and the result of neglecting the squad.
