Yawnion are trying out "ref cam" http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/20787300 Will this come to League? If so, will it be a good or bad thing for TV veiwing esp in conjunction with the already in use ref mic. ? I think it could be quite entertaining at times if used sparingly - e.g. Ganson telling Bailey to grow up etc

Depends if you want to watch the game as a whole, or just get involved with who did what and when.
The closer you get to individual incidents the less you will see out wide.

Personaly I feel there can be to much technology in our game. I am not against the use of cameras but I think re-runs should only be done at normal speed and not slowed down to miliseconds to determin if a try has been scored.

It's a pure gimmick. You cannot watch ref cam for any longer than a few seconds without feeling sick.

how many times do you see a bad call from the ref and the question "what did the ref see?" get asked

this could hold the ref's more accountable for poor calls and bottleing it in terms of putting things on report

i like the idea, even if we dont see it on tv

Bad idea,the less we see of the refs the better. Some of them think Its all about them as It Is.

Isn't the camera of the refs chest? If so that doesn't really prove whether the ref saw it or not. Someones chest can be pointing one way and their face another...

This is might be true, but has to be better than nothing, this has to stop as many bad tackles going on report because of a soft ref not having the balls to make the right call

The game's too fast with too few stoppages for this to work IMO. Even as things stand it's not possible to re-run every exciting passage of play during the game so I'd rather whatever time's available is spent analysing the action, as opposed to confirming that Thierry Alibert's reffing isn't all it might be.

Not really sure what the point of this would be. Having a mic on the refs makes sense and I've liked that idea when they've done it with the radios at tests and MM. Perhaps that should be an option on SKY i.e. ref with a mic option, instead of Barry and Terry's comedy.

It would probably work in Union as their refs walk around for most of the game.
Picture quality would be poor in RL due to the speed of the game and refs being far more active and their game is far faster than in Union.
If it was tried in both codes nothing would show up the differing pace of the respective games more than this.
Before that I'd like to get the full communications run from the TJ's to the refs.
Then we'd know more of what the TJ's do in keeping the refs informed and which refs take advice and those who ignore it.
