Please can someone at the RFL make a sensible decision for once and change this stupid rule about grounding the ball in your own ingoal area. It should have to be grounded intentionally to warrant a drop out. I'm sure saints aren't the only team but we have been caught out with that twice in recent weeks.

I think the problem is, the ref would have to guess if it was intentionally grounded or night.

I wouldn't moan about that one. Someone might mention the rule about catching the ball on the full in your own in goal area.

That wasn't even the decision if you read the match report.
It was that Monaghan lost control.


Whilst they are looking at the decsion, they should look at the momentum rule when applied to wire full backs.

Im not one eyed, the Monaghan Try was a try all day for me, he out jumped Meli (which isn't exactly surprising) and deserved the try. The video referees have gone too much like Australia - looking for reasons to disallow tries rather than award them. What happened to benefit of the doubt for the attacking side?

But this rule for me is one that takes all the momentum out of the game. Absolutely no-one near Makinson last night at he got no benefit from grounding the ball, so obviously didn't indend to do it, but it stated Warrington off nicely in gaining their momentum. The same at Catalan, and it changes the course of a game for seemingly no reason. There has obviously been a call on refs to clamp down on this rule recently and I think it's needless.

Stupid rule. For me they should allow him to run it out and when tackle complete use the video ref. The fact that there was no Wolves player anywhere near him should have said he was running it back.

The problem is that Monaghan didn't lose control. As for the momentum of Hodgson, he simply didn't stop sliding. Have you noticed that there are currently more arguments about Video ref decisions than ever at the moment?

Yup, daft rule. To ground the ball you should have to remain on the floor or make a signal, like a raised arm?

Another one that has needed changing for years is the restart from the 20 when a side hoofs the ball over the goal line. It should be a tap from wherever it was kicked.

I like that. It will stop a team being able to keep up pressure with an aimless hoof.
I also want the rule changed for "held up". I think it should be a drop out.

I said the same at the game, I'd even go as far as saying that a player should have to send the ball dead or be tackled with it as grounding it is just a soft cop out.

Also noticed the trend for video refs to look for reasons to disallow tries rather than reasons to give them. Monaghan should have been rewarded for his attacking skill, it also takes them until midnight to decide.
