Is there any other sport out there where the performance of the referee could effectively dictate the outcome of the game?

Surely the referees and touch judges, as paid professionals should be accountable?

I don't know what game you were watching but he had a stinker. He tried to even the penalty count in the second half but still got some wrong. He never looked for offsides either. He was atrocious today.

We don,t have refereeing standards just different levels of ineptness.

Will this ref have any affect on its always your year just like the last one its always your year

As a neutral (wakey fan) watching the game on telly, I thought he had a poor game, unfortunately though he is not in a minority, the standard of refing this year (and the past couple of years) is at best "inconsistent" and at worse "diabolical"
Decision of the day had to be, three pens in a row from the same player, he then warns Flynn and the next pen is Flynn with a high shot no card!! WTF?
anywaysup, I thought his decision making was poor for both teams and didn't really affect the result, just the talking points are about his decisions rather than the players performances

I thought the referee was bad today, for both sides, but to think he is one of top ones we have? the forward passes he missed! the time wasting at the play the ball he could have penalised Saints over and over again!

I'll agree that he was poor, Although If you think that he was responsible for Saints being beaten today then you are deluded. There are far to many inconsistency's at the moment in referee's performances and it is starting to get very tedious but either way I still feel the better team won on the day.
