I'll give him 6 months before I slate him. He's done a good job at Huddersfield, providing it's him that has built their squad. They have got a fabulous, young, dyamic squad and look set for success. In fact it looks so rosy at Huddersfield with the quality of their young players that it confuses me as to why he would come to Saints now. He's 90% of the way through turning Huddersfield into champions and he walks away to join a Saints squad which is pretty near to the start of it's development I'd say.
He didn't stay with Huddersfield as he kept moaning on about returning to the NRL. So are we now going to adopt their insecurity and have to see him linked to every NRL vacancy and him potentially leaving part way through his deal, or has he forgotten his desire to return home now?
On the whole it looks a reasonable move by McManus. A coach with a solid Super League record and some NRL experience signed early in the season. It gives them plenty of time to meet up to discuss recruitment and get the ducks in a row.
