"Do you fancy a drink, I know a place called the brink,

Now, Roy Haggerty was one of my favourite players. He certainly had his limitations but he gave his all for the red vee. His sidestep was a wonder to behold, even if it was telegraphed months in advance. There are many Roy stories and it seems Paul Loughlin has collected a few for his autobiography:

Small write-up here

Any other favourites? I remember Andy Platt telling me that when Roy went to France with the international side his suitcase was full of Pot Noodles in case he didn't like the food.

I also like the story of Roy trying out his Servicetill card for the first time.

Roy: I've put my number in. What do I do now?

Other player: You have to tell it how much you want.

Roy (shouts at machine): I'll have fifty quid please!

Probably apocryphal but still ...

I was always amazed how fast Roy was considering he never bent his legs. Was a great tome for local heroes with players like haggerty Arkwright and Harry pinner

This thread was about loughlins tales of haggerty not a keyboard warriors mickey taking. Am sure Roy doesn't lose any sleep over these stories, can't imagine he cries himself to sleep every night

What? Are you for real?

Have you even read the link I posted? Did you read the first line of my post? I'm old enough to have appreciated Roy in his prime and as I said, he was one of my favourites. Either you are still inebriated or have completely missed the point of the thread.

Are you going to call Paul Loughlin a 'moron' for putting Roy stories in his book?

Get off your high horse and chillax, as I believe the young people say.

And an apology for calling me 'a moron hiding behind a keyboard' would not go amiss either.

Firstly, I do apologise for making an assumption that you are a moron, however I question your motive for your post jn the first place, Paul Loughlins motive was to sell his book, he related situations about Roy (are they really true?) that have done the rounds re Blonds, Irish people and other groups.

Roy is a Saints legend, and as such should be "respected" by all followers of Rugby league, (as I am sure he is by many), whilst I understand you are old enough to have appreciated Roy in his prime as a rugby player and indeed was one of your favourite players, I don't think you will be on his Christmas card list.
As for me climbing down off my high horse, its easier than climbing out of the gutter.

Mugwump mocking mental illness for a second time -
