I've missed this previously. Not sure if anyone else posted it. Lee Gaskell has been nominated for the Albert Goldthorpe medal A fanstastic start to his career and I think he'll be a cracking Superlegue Player for the next dozen years. Not sure if he's infront of the likes of Arundle, but its good he's getting a mention.

Deserved nomination. Can't see past Charnley or McGillvary for the winner though. Both have been excellent and it's encouraging to see some potential appearing out on the wings as well.

He's too tall at 9ft 3 and still growing. He should look to move to basketball.

I think Charnley will, eventually move to centre with Ryan King/Matty Russell on the wing. I agree that both Charnley and McGilvray have been excellent but my personal choice would be Daryl Clark from Cas.

Tom Burgess has been outstanding whenever I have seen him.

Charnley has had his best two games in the challenge cup but I don't think they count towards this.

As Rogues said, eventually Charnley will eventually switch to centre, that is where Englands biggest gap with the aussies is as well.

I think McGilvary will get it though, he was outstanding earlier in the season. His style of running the ball back is not often seen in super league, he runs like a forward. Uate/Bai/Lez style. Great to see him in full flight running from his own 20. Very powerful player. I think he will only get better.

Why is Lomax not up for it? He would walk an award like this.

He played too many games last year to be classed as a rookie this year.

Tomkins won it in 2009 and 2010.

I have no idea but he played 16 last year and I'm sure I read somewhere over so many games and you're not eligible.

It's not the same thing as young player of the year though is it?

No he didn't. He won Young Player of the Year. That's a different award. You can't be a rookie if you've played over a certain number of games.
