Jonny Lomax and Foster : Fri May 27, 2011 10:26 pm
We need to do a Wigan and tie these lads down on long term contracts (5 year deals).

Jonny Lonax is a star in the making! The kid is a freakish talent!

Eastmond played well tonight. There were flashes of his old self. Definitely his best game of the season.

But Lomax was outstanding, in both defence and attack.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Re: Jonny Lomax and Foster : Fri May 27, 2011 11:04 pm
I think Eastmond and the fans have had the chance to step back from the brink of going to war. Keeping him out of the first team has given the time for the team to get their heads together and for the fans to get their heads together, so we can all move on from his antics.

This way at least he will get some game time this year and everyone can part on civil terms.

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

Re: Jonny Lomax and Foster : Sat May 28, 2011 9:10 am
If Eastmond can step up another level and start looking to run through a gap a bit more. Then him and Lomax could be a very dangerous combination.
Royce will have a good situation in a couple of weeks, who to play in the halves, Lomax, Pyrce, Gaskell, Eastmond.
For me we need to keep Lomax fixed in the halves with Pyrce, with possibly Eastmond to centre and Meli back on the wing (Gardener).

I thought eastmond had his best game of the season so far which is a good sign. He looked interested which makes a change this year. If he went for the gap a little more like he used to do I think he could be great coming off the bench.

I said if about a month ago, we need to get lomax and foster signed on long term deals now! Jamie is off contract at the end of 2012 so we need him signed now before union try to unsettle him.

I know Jamie would love nothing more than to sign a good long term deal and stay at saints for many years.

Re: Jonny Lomax and Foster : Sat May 28, 2011 10:35 am
There is really nothing to wait for.

Foster is playing very well, he's scoring lots of tries and his kicking is fantastic, you don't lose those skills. Lets not forget he is playing on a side with no specialist centre, so making all those tries it's not like he has a gidley or a lyon supplying.

Lomax again, he has to be our long term prospect, if we can offer lance a 4 year deal then , lomax deserves the same.

I would not go with Eastmond and Lomax personally, as this would reduce our long range kicking game. Gaskell and Lomax are great foils and Eastmond can use his talents outside of the half back position. Either at FB, centre or wing. With Gardner ou Eastmond may get his spot on the wing, and finish ironically taking on a role like billy whizz (jason robinson).

Eastmond is rubbish on the wing but he is a great centre. However, I'd hate to see Meli back on the wing. That would be a backward step IMO. I reckon Simmons should just do a straight replacement for Gardner with Makinson or Armstrong on the wing, Lomaskell remaining our halves as they complement each other well and Eastmond on the bench.

God knows what we will do once Wheeler and Pryce return, assuming they do! We will be spoiled for choice in the halves! (How refreshing would that be as a dilemma?)

Foster, meanwhile, is improving all the time. How he scored that first try I don't know but he has developed into a very good finisher this season. He also has some pace, great positioning, his catching last night was superb and then he is a fabulous goalkicker. He should be a certainty in the first team without question from now on regardless of anyone's form, and I hope Saints will sign him up to a long term deal asap.

I mostly concure, but not the bit about form, if he gets a 4 year deal and then sits on (laurals and hardy's), like any player he should be dropped like a stone.

I'm all for long term commitment to quality but they have to keep up their end too
