An invitation to Saints fans in Huddersfield on Saturday : Wed May 11, 2011 7:27 pm
Sam Morton, the manager of the Rugby League Heritage Centre, invites all Saints fans to visit the centre before the game on Saturday afternoon. The centre is based in the basement of the George Hotel about 100 yards from the railway station. It combines history and heritage with modern technology to showcase rugby league in a quite unique way, one that needs a good hour to savour and enjoy, two hours if you start talking to Sam!
On show is a rare collection of memorabilia; ancient caps, jerseys, boots, century old digitised photographs, medals and trophies, dinner menus, newspaper cuttings and programmes. There is also a selection of the latest rugby league books, DVDs and magazines all for sale some which would make an excellent Fathers' Day present.
In addition, and kindly loaned by the St Helens club, are the 2007 Carnegie World Club Cup and the 2008 Super League Leaders Shield.
Also in attendance, early on before he goes to work, will be Stevo who is always keen to chat to fans and even though Huddersfield is in Yorkshire, admission to the centre is free!.
