Thats right Rogues, he has just been sacked.

Saints fans will be wanting him back when they see what an uninspiring character Royce Simmons is.

If true it was predictable. Having made the finals in his first year, not even making the playoffs in his second was always going to be a tough one for him to survive. I hope he finds another job soon.

A lot of Saints fans didn't want him to leave in the first place.

Have already seen an interview with Royce Simmons. He's not charismatic but he comes across as a real human being, which is a bonus on a cardboard cutout. However, it is how he coaches our team which is the really important factor. He's a risk but he's learned under one of the best and has been assistant to the Kangaroos for 18 months so I'm hopeful that he will bring more varied skills to the team and a bit of defensive cohesion, not to mention a fitness regime that doesn't involve bulking everyone up.

Yeah Royce Simmons is one of the old style true rugby league blokes. In Penrith they loved him in his playing days because he was a one club man and legend from hooker....imagine if Saints had never won SL before, and this was the first win, in Keiron Cunningham's last game, that's what happened in the 1991 Grand Final in Simmons last game, with him scoring twice including the decisive try near the end.

On the "Thats Rugby League" video there's a little segment with Simmons, where he was talking about the 1990 and 1991 Grand Finals (both Canberra v Penrith, Canberra won in 1990, Penrith in 1991), and he said that winning in 1991 was great, but for him it never made up for the pain of losing in 1990, which I thought was an interesting comment. It shows that losing really hurts him.

Andrew Johns said something similar about winning the Grand Final in 2001, that it didn't make up for the hurt of blowing a semi in 2000 when the Knights thought they were well placed to win the GF in Matty Johns last year.

I'd be surprised if any Saints fan wanted him to leave at the time, he was a fantastic coach for us.

DA really did raise our defensive side to levels unseen in Super League, but I don't get the 'DA is God' stuff; we failed badly in two Grand Finals under DA, offering very little at all. Sure, we won the Challenge Cup, but I don't think I'd want him back coaching us to be honest.

Stuart Pyke on Twitter confirmed he's been sacked now. Would be a great replacement at Quins for me, or Salford.

I was just thinking about Quins. However, I don't think Anderson would come back to the UK. He seemed very keen to return to Australia so that his children could be educated there. Still, if he could be persuaded then it would be an excellent choice for Quins.

Salford for me will do better simply by getting some forwards in who will take on the opposition consistently. I don't reckon they need a new coach.

He mentioned this on the interview I saw. He said that it was something he has had to get over in his coaching career as he realised that players have to enjoy their rugby and since he struggled with losing that meant he didn't enjoy the rugby and the players didn't enjoy the rugby so he has learned to accept defeat and move on. I liked his honesty.
