I've always liked the look of JordanTurner, who seems to be finding his niche as a centre. Well worth a punt, I'd say. He might just be happy to come back over the pennines.

Where's he from?

Hull IIRC. went full length against us and then Hull KR on Good Friday but I expect Hull to tie him down long term.

Born in Oldham and came through the Salford youth system.

Personally I'd sign Turner, Broughton, Sargison and Arundell and release Gardner, Meli, Wellens and Shenton.

I was with you up until Shenton which i'm still unsure about. If he can re-gain his defence from last year which was solid i'd be happy to keep him but if his injury has took too much out of him and this Shenton is here to stay he has to go.

So Turner was from Salford and went to Hull but, Broughton was from Hull and went to Salford, right?

They both look good, from what I've seen and would be a fairly menacing physical threat on one side.

Shenton's s funny one.
I'm pretty sure there's a very good centre in there somewhere, but his form has been patchy to say the least since he joined us.
However, am I the only one to suggest replacing him with Joe Arundle is a slightly ridiculous idea? Shenton was an England centre when he was at cas, but has failed to maintain form in a saints jersey. What's to say exactly the same won't happen to Arundel?
Shenton wasn't a flash in the pan at Cas, he'd been doing it for a few seasons for them.

If he has the talent then it's no different to taking a punt on Gleeson, who was in no way a high profile player at Huddersfield when we signed him.

I wouldn't object to the signing, I just want to make a point that signing players is only the beginning and that getting them playing is the main part. If we're not getting Shenton to perform, who's to say we won't get exactly the same problem with Arundel, who's essentially the next player off the same conveyor belt.

That's why we've signed a new coach, not (just) to help assemble a better 17, but to make sure the team we have is playing the best possible rugby. Its not inconceivable that if Brown does a good job, Shenton could recapture some of the form that got us interested in the first place?

Broughton is from the Leeds system, IIRC. He spent a season on loan at Hull before going to Salford. I don't think he's out of contract anyway. Danny Williams is, though. Another speedy Leeds product doing well at Salford.
