It maybe true just as coaches coach to slow the play the ball. But still does not stop it being a penalty when they push it too far.
I don't think it was a red card, but hooper used to get regular yellows for the same challenges. We did not even get a stoppage in play when the game came back to where the player was injured.
If it had been a long or Tomkins that got taken out, then I guess the reaction would have been different, we would have had rolls and cartwheels to make sure the ref saw it. As is was Wheeler he did not make a big deal even though injured and we got nowt.
