You've obviously forgotten that KC made six Super League Dream Teams, was voted the number one player in Super League's history and featured in the World XIII on two occasions. Did Edwards ever get voted into the top five for any position?

No because he was never good enough.

Love how you sintellins fans are getting your knickers in a twist because it looks like the statue at Wembley will be of a Wigan player.

In terms of rugby league, the CC is what is synonymous with Wembley and you surely can't deny it being of someone who has won a record 9. If it was Shaun Long who had won that then however much it would still annoy me but I would accept that it would be a worthy statue.

Plus I don't buy into this whole "he's working in union now, I don't want him", throw your toys out the pram nonsense. All it would serve to do if the statue was of Edwards, would be to remind everyone that he was a rugby league great and that they had to persuade a rugby league player to come and help their teams as their own people aren't as good.

"Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!" Matthew 4:19

Things I learned on 11/08/12

Gareth Hock can't pass
Gareth Hock can't run
Gareth Hock can't fight

I'm assured he can snort a line of coke the size of a Mecca dauber though.

No it won't! What tosh. Rugby league is barely known by the country overall and those that do know of it and prefer union; hate league (in most cases)

In what world would they build a statue of rooney outside goodison park? That may be a bad example but I don't really watch wwndyball. He acheived things in a great (pro) team but he is known as wasps coach and union stalwart now!

'I've done things i'm not proud of. And the things i am proud of,.......well they're disgusting'

Re: Wembley Statue, who should it be? : Sun Oct 16, 2011 9:35 am
Offiah has union connections, but i'd still go for him. Even long after he retired he is still the closest thing our sport has to an A-list celebrity. Nearly all of the country know who he is and wouldn't be asking 'who's that?' when they saw the statue. Plus, he could play a bit too and 'that' try(even though i think there have been a lot better scored at wembley) is a pretty iconic moment at the stadium.

Offiah is a nob head though, don't care how good he was, he's a money sucking agent who only cares about himself and money.

I suppose if we look at players who were considered the best than it would have to be Andy Farrell or Ellery Hanley who have both won the Golden Boot and have Wembley connections.

But I would still have Shaun Edwards whose name is synonymous with Wembley and Rugby League.

It shocks me that a man the year above God at school still has a memory that doesn't go beyond the 80's

Opinions on players will always vary. However what is fact is that Shaun Edwards has appeared at Wembley more than ANY other Rugby League player and been a winner there more than any other Rugby League player.

As such he has to be one of the players considered. Wasn't he also the youngest captain of a Challenge Cup winning side?

Rouges you know tellinsers couldnt stomache a shaun edwards statue. It would gall saints fans every time they went to wenmbley and likewise a murphy statue for you pies.Personally its gotta be an iconic piece encapsulating everything 'Rugby League'( not one man,but something like alan prescott being car
ried after gb beat the aussies.
"ALAN PRESCOTT will forever be remembered for one of the most conspicuous acts of bravery seen in sport. Playing through injury is one thing, but carrying on with an arm broken in the third minute of a rugby league Test against Australia is the stuff of legends"..........(Alan Prescotts obituary dave hadfield daily telegraph sept 22 1998).So yeah a staute of Prescott carried with ashes celebrating GB Lions in a memorable game of league
