Re: Hock : Tue Apr 05, 2011 3:56 pm
How you can say Hock is being let off is beyond a joke when other examples in RL are well known. KC played for a long time whilst on HCG but got off with it because 'he didnt know what the doctor was giving him' im sure if the RFL hadnt of been paying a chunk of his wages the outcome may of been different. And yeh because we all would let a doctor inject stuff without being sure what it was. Matt Calland was given a suspended sentance for Nandrolone before he retired. Hock tested positive for a recreational drug not enhancing, he never cheated anyone apart from his own club and fans.

he's back
so much for the tough stance against drugs

has the terry newton issue not taught you anything? You can't leave them out in the cold, we must re-habilitate and re-integrate these players who have lost their way.

otherwise, more of them might end up in a bad way.

Whilst taking drugs in sport is bad, it's not the end of the world and the embrassment alone is often enough to show they wont do it again.

we can't let these people fall into bad ways, we are a better sport than that.
I've always thought of McGuire as a good player, and I wouldn't normally wish injury on any player, but there was a certain hint of poetic justice to that.
Another classic:
You forgot to take off the "Saints Reduction Factor" when calculating the ban.

Standard suspension / Saints Reduction Factor = Actual ban for Saints player.

Therefore (2 / 3) = 0.666

0.666 < 1 therefore actual ban equals "less than 1 match".

Therefore ZERO.
Give the girl her dummy back.

the next one will be just a ban from playing, training is fine apparently

I'm just guessing here, but I presume it must be a 24 month playing ban, but a 21 month ban from training with "a team". It was stated in the newspaper that a precedent had already been set with an un-named footballer.

If that player had been allowed to train with his team in less than 21 months then I would have expected Hock to apply earlier.

I'd be very interested to see how all these outraged people would react had it been one of our players, I suspect it would have been very differently. The guy still cant play so I don't see how it affects any other team.

Not true, the WDA consider It a stimulant. Also It Is used to camouflage other drugs that they might be takeing also.
I see a lot of Wigoon fans are remarking how big Hock looks and cant wait to see him In the front row.

Yes. Once the ban has been served.

They haven't 'lost their way', incidentally. They have chosen to take drugs. That is their responsibility.

I completely think that the RFL should support these players centrally, it is a complete conflict of interests to tell the clubs they are not allowed to employ these players but also must support them while banned.
My issue in this case is he was banned for two years from training and playing. The bans could easily be just from playing and not training.
What Hock did was nothing compared to what Newton did, Gaz Hock wasnt cheating, he was just dumb.
