They have both featured in an u20's game. The back 2 weeks ago and the forward last week, so it is possible that they will play. I don't know of anywhere that the squads are published before the game though.

Just arrived to see the u20s clapped off. Couldn't see the big Irishman, however our no 12 looks massive! Who's that?
No 5 wasn't small either, was that Brotherton?

Some might look at this as being harsh but I think it's fair. When are the Rugby League going to stop persisting with this fantasy expansion. If it hasn't worked by now, it never will! I'm all for reaching out to a wider audience with our game but not at the expense of historical clubs in the homelands.

Looks like Ian Cross scored a try and kicked 7 goals against Hull KR U20s. http://www.saintsrlfc.com/results/match-report/469

Get em both in against Salford. Result is immaterial and it will aid their development no end. Both of them are clearly up to it physically and if they can handle the Under 20s they can handle one home game against Salford.

Match report wrote:
Brotherton got his brace courtesy of a bit of Irish Gold. Big Aaron McCluskey dislodged the ball with a big hit on the Saints 40. He picked the ball up, turned around, saw clear space, pinned his ears back and set off at a sprint. The cover caught him on the Rovers 20 but Gary Wheeler fed Brotherton from the play the ball.

McClusky seems to be smashing it in the U20s.

Match report wrote:
There was just time fro Ian Cross to show his talents as the Irishman broke through on the right before brilliantly dummying to his winger and then outpacing the full back to the posts.

Ian Cross sounds good too. He also has a fro apparently which is always a fan pleaser.

While we are at it, throw our Gloucester boy in as well.

After watching McClusky in the 20s on saturday i think he has the raw attributes to make it. His break was funny though. The Rovers cover didnt catch him, he just stopped because his legs went and waited for our cover to tackle him. :)

Re: Saints sign 2 Irish players : Tue Aug 23, 2011 9:36 am
These 2 lads are Union players from Young Munster in Limerick. They play for Treaty City Titans in the off season and have been 2 of their main players this year. Cross is actually a Union fullback, a competent player, and looks comfortable on a league field. McClosky is a giant, the perfect model for league but a work in progress. He has a long way to go, but does have an instinct to off load in the tackle and works hard in defence. Brian Carney never made any shakes in the Irish Union scene, but did well in League - lets hope Saints have spotted something here! They were spotted by Saints at a League Introduction weekend in Limerick at the beginning of summer. Wigan were also there and had a look at a young 18 year old Irish lad who had actually played for Irish Youths at Union and also spent some time at Wigan St Judes when he was younger.

Really impressed with these two at the weekend, Mccloskey looked solid in the middle. Cross has a sublime right boot and looks very athletic, showed excellent speed and skill going 60 metres for a pearler of a try. And i couldnt see any fro haircut! Given a bit more time and experience these two could be very good.

Dan is from Northampton, nowhere near Gloucester!

If Ian has managed to grow a fro in two weeks kudos to him
