For example - Both our wingers are playing great - zero errors , work hard carrying ball out of defence, finish well when given the chance, good game for josh jones is clearly a centre rather that a back row, Dawson will be pleased with a try on his debut- let's see if he can build on it. Wilko - sacrificed himself again for the team - excellent. Amor top drawer. Boof also played well. Young forwards dug in and played their part especially Greenwood who really looked the part. Good shows from Manu and Sia . Good shows from Roby and Lomax as we'll. Augers well. Ref was poor - we won despite him - let wakes do what they wanted at the POB - came to his senses second half. What do you think those who went to support the team.
If you'd bothered to read what I put, I've often said it's hard to criticise him because of what he's DONE for the club and how heroic a player he WAS for us. But check the tense, it's been 5 years since he's been good enough to play for us. Lomax would have been better at 1 since he first broke through and they waited far too long to make that change.
My subsequent criticism of him is based on the FACT that he's not as good as the other players in the squad. It's frustrating watching him go through the motions now, pretending to be a forward/halfback. Over the last few years of him at fullback, his own frustration at not being good enough came over a lot, the pathetic flapping his arms at the ref, the tantrums, the general grumpy demeanor. Now after finally being removed from the 1 shirt, rather than retire with his legacy somewhat intact he's accepted a role that is completely fabricated and utterly cringeworthy. He's no SL forward, never has been and never will be. But rather than showing some personal pride and retiring, he'll just happily play every game this season and deny others their chance. Not a very legendary behaviour that, I'll tell you.
If the club had used him very occasionally, arguably on days like today when we've got a few out, and strictly at fullback, it's one thing. Him playing every single game whether there is a logical place for him in the team or not is another. He can't be enjoying it himself, he must know he's not deserving of the place in the team he's taking.
I know this isn't in response to me, and I'm not going to get into a debate over this. Every time I look at this board there is at least one post from you, about Wellens, where you make the same point over and over again. I'd get it if you made the odd post on it every now and again, but it's becoming downright obsessive now. I don't see why you feel the need to do it so frequently. Is it attention you're looking for or what?

I don't think anyone would disagree he isn't the player he once was, that's why he's lost the 1 shirt. HOWEVER, the guy creates the 2 tries that win us the game, and the first thing posted on here is about how he's not good enough? What more could the guy of done?? He's not a halfback in anyone's book, yet did a job for us, given our 3 regular halfbacks are out, and a couple who would of probably step up into the halves were out as well.
He didn't deserve (yet more) aggro after his performance this week, which is precisely what he got.
He had a great game today, cant see how he was critised for todays performance

Hey whoa there solider. I was directly questioned.
Wellens is always going to be mentioned on team selection and squad announcement threads. It will run all season this as he hasn't got a logical place in the 17 let alone the 13. It's going to be so interesting to see the change in feeling towards him from the fans and also from the players who surely can't appreciate his auto-pick status.

Well let's see how the season unfolds - let's be fair and reasonable in our assessment of performance - but for a player like Wello to be referred to as slug , muppet etc on his own fans forum is not how we want to go surely!

A lot of direct questions then.
We know your opinion - you post it 5 times a day. Why don't you save us the bother of reading it and just copy and paste your previous comments? As I say, it's becoming obsessive, and sadly your point about the players is mistaken as well. I can't remember the last time I looked on here and didn't see a post on here from you regarding Wellens.

Anyone who calls him anything like that needs to have a look before they call themselves a fan, no matter what their opinions are of him now for me.
I think that's appalling personally.

The critical opinions on these boards are generally balance out the over the top sycophantic stuff.
For Example Wilkin is a very well paid professional sportsman who got asked to play 7 for a game and did quite well.
He isn't the dalai lama , didn't pull anyone out of a burning building , or deliver a baby in a traffic jam.
No but it needs to be recognised that he puts the team before his personal ambitions at times. Last year because Lomax Gaskell. And Lance could not perform in the halves he spent the whole season there trying to dig us out of a hole and ultimately lost his place in the international squad as a consequence.
