The conditions played a part last night. The wind was obviously strong and blowing towards the West Stand. In the first half there were a number of penalties when we tapped rather than kicking to touch when usually we'd have gained a further 10-20 yards. It's also noticeable that Hulls 'world class' kicking game in the first half disappeared in the second, whereas our dire kicking game in the first improved massively in the second
I thought it was a strange decision to run with no props for 20 minutes in the first half, I thought we'd need the extra grunt to gain yards given the lack of kicking.
Hull split the defence a couple of times, however for the most part I wasn't that worried when they had the ball, they mainly played to complete sets rather than chancing their arm until they went behind and by that time it was too late for them. I think they are a decent side, but lack a touch of class to really trouble anyone in the play offs.
I don't think we're firing on all cylinders, but it's only the second game of the season. I'd be more worried if we were at this stage.
