Makinson did play fullback, but also at the same time Wellens was playing in the halves and we had Gardner playing on the wing I think.

So we had shortages all over mid-season.

Since then I think Makinson has nailed down wing to the point were moving him to FB to cover a Lomax injury, would be counter productive. Just easier to drop Wellens and do a one for one swap. Rather than move Makinson and then replace Makinson. It weakens 2 spots instead of just 1.

As long as Wellens isn't shoehorned into the 17 and is purely back up, I have no issue with a deal considering that part of if is exempted (I think is true??).

We desperately need a 6. People have praised Hohaia recently, but I think he's been as cack as he always has been.

We are certainly much improved next season, but we aren't as complete or as good as Warrington, Wigan and Leeds.

Any player who has played for the same Club for at least 10 consecutive seasons will have half their salary excluded from the Salary Cap for his eleventh and subsequent seasons. This is measured from the season in which the player was registered as a professional player with the club and is subject to a maximum of £50,000 for any one club

But we don't know how much he is getting?

Roby Wilkin (and wello) qualify next year, along with Gardner this year - it's not an either or so it makes it easier to justify keeping wello.

If for example it came out (not that contract values ever do) was on 80k I think a lot on here that amount of space on the cap - but when if it came out he was on 40k (salary cap wise) then I think a lot more people would justify it.

We will never know how much he will be paid but I think the above rule makes him a lot more feasible for us - after all for 40k on the cap who is better equipped to play the support role he does?

I don't think Brown would play him as first choice backup at fullback, I reckon he would play Makinson there.
