He never said he was a coach, he never asked to be a coach but he was asked to be a coach until the end of the season.
Mike Rush IS a coach. He's been working in various coaching capacities for years. Sure, he hadn't coached SL when he was given the role - but this is no different to any rookie first grade coach in the NRL or SL. Indeed, I'm quite sure many of such "hadn't thought about coaching first grade" when circumstances conspired against the previous incumbent and they were asked to take the role.
Rush says he never asked to be a coach. Fine. But he never declined the offer from McManus. So, the only difference between Rush and anyone else lies in the nebulous area between "asking" for the job and "accepting" such. Let's say there is a clear distinction - this affects his abilities to coach a group of players in precisely what way?
Do coaches who "accept" an offer rather than "ask" for it perform worse?

I think your very very harsh on Rush. He will be the first to admit he's not the greatest coach and I agree he's not a great coach but he brought some confidence back to us and did a good job.
How many expected us to finish 3rd and make the semis? Most in here didnt think we'd make the play offs with the start we had.
He came in as Inexperinced coach and tried his best and IMO did a a good job. I do agree, he lacks in his tactics but he did what he knows best.

Who did he bring confidence back to exactly?

Last year nobody believed we would get anywhere either and we made the semi of the CC, the GF as well as third in the league. What has that got to do with anything?

What makes you believe he did a good job?
I'm entitled to my view on this and IMO he did well.

I don't think I'm being harsh in saying he is as experienced as any rookie coach in SL or the NRL. Beyond that my major criticism is his handling of some of the kids, which - let's be honest - should be the area in which is strongest.
However, I do think, in light of issues which have manifested themselves this year with the likes of Gaskell and Foster serious questions must be raised about his abilities as a junior coach. And let's be quite frank about this - whilst our junior development program has been praised by people both inside and outside the club - it is at the very least reasonable to suggest it has, so far, failed to produce the results which were promised three or four years ago when McManus and company were claiming the "future is in safe hands" with the likes of Gaskell (benched, possibly out), Foster (loaned), Lomax (catastrophic loss of form), Eastmond (gone), Ashurst (gone), Dixon (catastrophic loss of form) etc. etc.

He's going high up the ladder at saints mate, I don't mean on the coaching or youth delelopment side of things either

That wouldn't surprise me. He did a really good job of spouting the party line during his time as coach I'm sure he will be well rewarded for his obedience.
