Absolute nonsense, one of the worst posts I have seen lately.
We fought back from 12 points down with a completely patched up side against the champion side in their own backyard. It took them until the final play of the game to beat us. Surely, even in your warped mind, that constitutes "putting up a fight."
Exactly the reason I can't often agree with Saddened. Far too critical of his side. The effort that day from Saints was outstanding. Trying to hang on at the end after such an effort was a massive ask. There was no 'jellyfish' syndrome. It was just complete and utter fatigue, and justified fatigue too.
Then again, and don't take this the wrong way, but I'd wager that a large quantity of Saints 'supporters' are glory hunters. Ie, the moment things aren't running like clock work, or the salary cap is finally tightening up the competition, the fact that your club isn't having things all their own way means that the majority of the squad are immediately not up to the job.
When Man Utd lost the title in the 09/10 season, all you heard spill out of their supporter's mouths were notions that 'he wasn't good enough', 'team needs a complete makeover' etc etc etc. Yet ironically, almost the very same group of players go onto regain the Premier League title and get to the CL final within the next 12 months.
