Leeds?
Jesus wept, they couldn't be less important to who finishes top if they tried.
The reason Leeds 'didn't want to win it' is because they were only good enough to beat Wigan, Saints or Wire once in the 6 league games against them.
Yes, you're absolutely right. Leeds are a terrible team who never contest big finals or anything after all, eh? They chase the top spot every season and throw everything they have into winning meaningless league games and are just too **** to win them or finish top despite all their best efforts. They weep into their pints every night at their accursedly low league position and winning at O/T is just no consolation to them at all in their agony, bless 'em.
Leeds have mastered the art of what modern SL is about - i.e. their being no point in bothering to turn up for pointless league games until August, and saving all their energy for the playoffs instead. You might still delight in the joy of actually winning
something (no matter how unrecognised and denigrated a trophy it may be) after all those long, lonely years of mid-table obscurity and think that finishing top is a goal worth throwing everything you have at all season long. The successful clubs like us and Leeds however got bored with winning the hubcab years ago and direct our energies at the part of the season where it counts instead. The current Leeds side will be acclaimed in future generations as one of the greatest club sides of all time. So will Saints' teams of a few years ago. Your current team will merely go down in history as a footnote. So ner.
