In a starkling change in form, id agree with Saintsfan that losing a few of our top players being rested really wouldnt change the result or insult Oldham.

I disagree, we are still striving for stability and form at the moment we won,t get this by leaving our top players out of the side no matter how easy or difficult this game is going to be.
It's also insulting to the Oldham Players, they want to play against the very best players and saints should respect that, I should imagine for example Oldhams No 9 would find it exciting and a challenge to face one of the best players in the world in Roby.
Mike Rush thoughts on the approach to this game is bang on.

I always like to see youngsters get a decent run out, especially when they'll get more of a chance to shine, but I understand why rush won't be resting anyone. I'd like to see Gaskell have a run at #6, but in fairness, Hohaia has only just started a run there and things are still settling in. Perhaps it is best that we keep things unchanged to work on our combinations?

I'd keep the half back combination, but maybe put a few young forwards in and put Makinson to full back. I wouldn't make wholesale changes, but this gives us an opportunity to rest a few players.

I don't care how Oldham feel about Roby playing, my concern is Saints.

I would rest virtually the whole team. It's Oldham FFS. I'd rest everyone bar players who need game time, the likes of Perry and Wheeler etc.
