He is not a one trick pony; more like a one kick pony. The bottom line is he is not big enough to make it in super league. Someone his size would need at least another yard and a half of pace to be competitive at the top level.
Sorry but the evidence does not justify the hypothesis. Lets not forget, he's outside Meli, this is no Jamie Lyon or Matt Gidley who he is playing next too.
I think people are obsessed by pace, but as has been pointed out LOTS. If it was pace that made Wingers Kevin Penny would be streets ahead. Most Wingers are medium paced even in the NRL. Given the way a modern defense is drilled regular long range runs hardly happen anywhere anymore. Even back in the day of Offiar, he still had more tries from 2 yards out than from the opposition half.
I think when people think of wingers they instantly visualise that try in the CC from Martin and then go, why is our guy not that fast?
In the end if they are getting the tries on the board then they are good enough. The fact he can kick is secondary to his defence, ball security, tries, my concern was when his ball security started to drop, but a few games at the back end of his first full season does not instantly create a pattern for the rest of his career.
