Once again the reason I prefer your lot to Warrington was proven. Coming out of the game after a long stay behind, loads of saints fans shaking our hands and wishing us luck at wembley. A fantastic day with no trouble at all just good banter. Both sets of fans showed the world what the real derby in rugby league is. Your fans were great today.
I will second this.
We ended up with a couple of Saints fans on our coach (well.. double decker
) there and back.. and guess what.. no trouble at all. There was a bit of banter and a few songs but nothing malacious and both got back in one piece.
Few Saints fans on the way back after the game said well done, shook our hands and asked if we needed maps to Wembley
and the whole Wigan and Saints respect for each others clubs and achievements were clear to see before/during/after the game.
Compare this to when we beat Dire in the quarters, and you had Dire fans waiting outside that pub offering us all fights and shouting abuse at the end of the game.
Wigan v Saints will always be the number 1 derby in Rugby League.
