Worthy noting that Jordan Turner is the first Saints centre to score at least ten tries during the Super League season since 2007 when Gidley scored 15.

And we had halfbacks in them days to actually get him the ball

If St Pete doesn't mind, I'd like to ask a separate question. Who have been our most influential players this year? I'd start the list with Lomax, he is the one player who we really miss when he was injured. I'd add Wilkins to the list as a player who despite his limitations, gives his all in whatever position he is asked to play. Manu had a slow start to the season but is looking like the player that we thought we had signed. Meli for all his critics has had another good season. TP has the ability to turn a game as has Soliola. Turner showed against Warrington that he can be influential. Walmesly has had a top season. Couple of points from this list. Roby doesn't figure. Even when he has played I can't remember any particularly influential games. TP and Meli are both leaving and will leave quite a hole to be filled. Meli in particular isn't being replaced. An sure there are others who have figured and could be added to the list.

Most influential player has to go to Wilkin too I think.

Walmsley has been by far our best player this year.

Looking from the outside I would say Wilkin. I think he's really been top man for you this season.

Wilkin for me too. I can't fault the guy's effort this year and I think next year we'll see the rewards with improved leadership from him. After Wilkin it's Lomax. We miss Roby sure, but when Lomax isn't at full back we look like the worst bits of the past two years. He is our most potent attacking weapon because of the space he helps create for our outside backs, hence Turner's try scoring tally being the best in six years for a Saints centre.

Walmsley is easily young player of the year with Swift next.

One person who has quietly impressed me is Makinson. I thought he might just be a regular in and out player, however this season he's showing signs of developing physically i.e. getting faster and stronger, to the point that he's first choice winger for me these days.

Walmsley is 23 coming on 24 so doesn't really qualify for young player.

Personally would go for Josh Jones who has done a sterling job wherever he has played and yet only turned 20 part way through the season.

Josh Jones is a quiet achiever. The next Paul Clough.

I'm a fan of Clough but I think Jones has more a out him than just being a quiet achiever.

I think it's easy to forget he's only 20, he seems to have been around for ages already. If he gets a settled run in the side at 2nd row I think he could turn into a very good player for us.
