Ben Roberts is a name I've heard linked with Cas. (So was Lee Gaskell)

Fwiw. The rumour on our own board is Chase has finally agreed to go to Salford for 350k a year. Showing the Dr has no respect for the Salary Cap.

Nobody can compete with that.

Not exactly true , he could be doing a Wigoon (a few years back) and going for a smattering of 'stars' taking up most of the cap with everyone else picking up the scraps. I believe it took Pollard a while to sort that out.

The SC is easy enough to circumvent.
Pay Chase, say, £100k and get the other £250k from a wealthy sponsor.
I'm sure the DR knows a few zillionaires in the equine industry who he could do a deal with including sponsoring some of his players.
Didn't Scully have a sponsorship deal with Gillette some years ago?
Even if he did bust the SC would the RFL do anything?
Hudds are being investigated again over the Mason case, however the SC part of it is not included.
The last thing the RFL want is to upset Ken Davy and him walk away from the Giants.

I wonder if the fact that the clubs recently voted against the introduction of a marquee player allowance might have some impact on this story? It's possible that Salford and Chase might have provisionally agreed terms which were dependent on the marquee rule being voted in.
