There is only really Heatherington and McManus who love to be in the limelight all the time, one is an owner and the other a CEO, it should be the players or coach who does the talking!

You forgotten Pollard ? Dr Kashcow? ... you talk some booty

People complain about how there is little communication between the club and fans, but when the owner does communicate with the fans it means he 'loves to be in the limelight ALL THE TIME'. Can't have it both ways.
Also, it's the first time I've seen the chairman be interviewed like that on TV for a good while.
I'm not that fussed what McManus says in the press, I couldn't care less. Actions speak much much louder than words and we need to be improving the quality of our squad, letting the players who aren't performing go (as he threatened to do - not reward them with new deals) and making sure Brown knows that pi$$ing about every week and treating us to a nightmare show is simply not acceptable. We are the paying public and we pay to be entertained not tortured (although I accept some people may like that kind of thing )
McManus is a fan as well as the boss so I'm sure he's as cheesed off as the rest of us but it's his job to take the steps needed to put it right.
That's the main problem. Whilst it may look from outside we're mearly sore losers, there've been no noble defeats, no games when we've faught valiantly to the end, when our guys have continued to put in 100% even when the games looked beyond them, were are fowards run with all their might even though they've been smashed earlier in the game. Rarely have we looked organised or even competant at organising a defensive line - let alone getting it to move with any vigour. Attack has often been even worse, with in decision rift and a game plan missing. Despite all of this, Brown continues to tinker (less now, perhaps), seemingly desperate to wedge to defunct Wellens into the team, Greenwood in the centre, Howarth in the back row. Rumours are rife that 3 of the most uninspring performaers are getting contract extensions. We've paid expecting a mercedes, and when we've gone to collect it, we've been handed the keys for an old rust bucket. We'd have been much happier if we'd have just bought a nice new diesel fiesta to get us to and from work without breaking down.
But I'm struggling to see where he criticised the fans in that interview?
In my OP I said he had another dig, and that I found him patronising. You may not find a chairman who comes across as deluded about the team's performances telling the fans to be 'rational' as patronising but I do, especially when you consider what we have had to put up with at home this season.
When considering the sense I have of him criticising the fans per se you need to remember that I said 'again' - I was linking to his other statements. It's the overall sense of him having a go that I am finding irritating and I wish he'd just shut up and that Wilkin and Wellens would just shut up and that the team and the coach would just get on with actually providing us with a decent home performance, for once.
Er, I'm sure you just said fans aren't rational. Make up your mind. Or stop moving the goalposts, whichever!
They generally aren't, thinking with their hearts rather than their heads to varying degrees. Not sure where I contradict that in what I've written
I don't buy programmes anymore. But I have read/heard his subsequent statements and based on those then no, I don't think he has shown empathy.
That you can't/won't see what is there is your prerogative.
Not what I want, no, but what I can see. That you can't/won't see what is there is your prerogative.
What you claim to see is your prerogative, reading into what you think has been said rather than what has actually been said.
So, you're criticising the fans too.
I don't believe booing the team improves anything, especially during the game. I don't believe it inspires anyone to perform any better than they are at the time, in fact I think it has the opposite effect. I also don't think fans shouting abuse at individual players during games makes them perform any better either. If you think that is criticism of the fans then so be it, it's a criticism of some fans (not every fan does it). I believe that you should support the players on the pitch during the game, and any criticism comes afterwards.
The players should man up and put in a professional performance at home. That will stop the fans getting upset at having to endure their abysmal showings having paid their money for the privilege of doing so.
Man up? Good grief, such ridiculous terminology when discussing what is a lack of confidence rather than a lack of ability.
Did I say that? No, that's right, I didn't. Moving the goalposts again I see. Nice try but it doesn't work with me.
What else did "It is ridiculous to expect fans to cheer the team on when they have chosen to (metaphorically speaking) stay in the dressing rooms." mean? So you only cheer the team on when they are winning then? Not when they are struggling and underperforming, just when they need the support most? The only person trying to move goalposts is you.
Fans have been doing that all season.
And? Where's the dig?
I'll take your attempted diversion away from the point to mean that you can't actually defend what you've said. Again.
We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.
Did anyone else see McManus interviewed on Boots n All about the performance of the team?
I was bemused by his view on things. He expressed complete confidence in Brown et al and the team, believing we are actually a top four club, just having a blip, and that we will come good as the season comes to a close. Clearly he has been watching another Saints this season! Either that or he has been away so much that he hasn't actually watched many of our games at all. Anyway, according to McManus Brown is brilliant, the coaching staff are brilliant, the team is brilliant, in fact the only people who are not brilliant are the fans. We are apparently irrational. (I would like to know when fanhood came with the requirement to be rational?)
I was (yet again) annoyed by (yet another) dig at the fans. I wonder if he realises just how patronising he can sound?
I've not seen it until now, but that is utter bunkam.
Totally not what he said.
The chairman's actual words were and this is as close to a quote as I can get.
"We do have the players, we do have the coach and we do have great supporters. "
"It's a matter of keeping OUR nerve and staying rational." (nothing at fans here)
Yep watched it to the end and utter bunkam.
Whilst he may put as positive a spin on the players and coach and position as possible. That is what a chairman does. It's the managers job to kick over water carriers and read the riot act.
